Finally the last day of Winter.....
Well tomorrow is the first day of Spring and we are finally out of Winter, although this said this is the first year on record that we have not had any ice on the waters....something that would be unthinkable many years ago. Let's just hope Spring is kind too and the fishing remains good. Best tactics have been the 'Pennine Hedgehog' which has bagged some monster catches, 30 to 40 fish per session have been reported....although we have sold out of these at present I will be tying some more up today. Fish these flies on a floating line and target rising fish and area's of moving water, fish them static at first and if you have no luck strip them fast with long pulls and watch the trout chase! Egg Flies and yellow buzzers have also worked well under a strike indicator. Damsels, white snakes and cats whiskers have been the best option for anglers wishing to go down below. Fish of the week goes to Mr Mike Galagher from Colne with a nice sized double caught on a yellow buzzer fished from a floating line.
