Although the weather has not been great the fishing continues to improve........

More rain continues to grace us a Pennine, in all the years I have known I have never had as much of it in the summer months. The days of worrying about water levels, temperatures and the general condition of the water seems a distant memory, now it's all about the speed of growth rate that the fish are achieving and also all the extra groundwork that needs to be done! As in previous posts the fishing continues to follow a similar trend with sedges and cdc buzzers working very well when the rain eases and black fritzs and red flash olives doing well when the fish are feeding deeper. This weeks "fish of the week" goes to a fish that in my opinion cannot be sniffed at because of it's size, although it only tips the scales at 8lb 5oz it is one of the best marked brownie I have ever seen in the waters at Pennine. The lucky angler to land this fish was Mr John Dixon, john caught the fish on a hothead damsel fished from a intermediate line from the life buoy area. Other notable catches this week are Mr Paul Jones from Wirral with a rainbow of 15lb 6oz caught on a olive flash cat and Mr Mike Woodward from Warrington with a 14lb 10oz rainbow caught on a jack frost fritz. Fish averages are still very high at 4lb 10oz with a rod average of 6 fish per angler. The blue trout are now beginning to show in numbers and are coming out at a 4lb average.
